These do not have to be overly harsh or horrifying as the depth of peeling can be controlled by the doctor depending on your needs. In fact, TCA peels can produce beautiful results in 10 days or so if you are willing to put up with some skin peeling or flaking away over the course of a week. Depending on your skin type, your skin might be treated first with special pre-treatment creams for 3-4 weeks before the peel. These help improve the results and lallow a more uniform peel. Lighter TCA peels do not always require this step. Just before the peel your skin is cleansed and the TCA solution is applied. A burning sensation is felt for a couple of minutes and then subsides.
