Dr Prendergast obtained his medical degree with top honours from the National University of Ireland and continued his postgraduate training in Oxford and Dublin. Following his training in general and cardiothoracic surgery in Ireland and Singapore, he continued training in cosmetic medicine.

With advanced training in cosmetic medicine from the USA, France, Italy, Singapore, London and Hong Kong, Dr Prendergast practised in Ireland and the UK before establishing Venus Medical Beauty in 2005. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors, the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, and numerous other international societies.  He is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, the highest level to which a member can aspire.  He recently founded the Irish Association of Cosmetic Doctors, aimed to improve the regulation of cosmetic services in Ireland and offer a resource for patients seeking experienced, qulaified, and dedicated cosmetic doctors.

Dr Prendergast continues to pioneer procedures in Ireland including the Serdev thread lift for scarless face and neck lifting and VASER Liposelection for body contouring. Dr Prendergast is recognised as a leader in the field of cosmetic medicine; he is regularly invited to speak on topics related to cosmetic procedures in Ireland and abroad, and writes regular features in national publications, including Rejuvenate, Ireland's only cosmetic magazine.

Dr Prendergast is fully registered with both the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council.
